Set to unfold in Taipei from August 2 to 5, 2024, the highly anticipated Taiwan Culinary Exhibition promises an immersive experience into the heart of Taiwan’s culinary culture. Hosted at the iconic Taipei World Trade Center, this four-day event will bring together over 600 food booths highlighting both traditional Taiwanese dishes and innovative culinary creations. Attendees will have the chance to interact with Michelin-starred chefs and local culinary experts, gaining insights into the craftsmanship that defines Taiwanese gastronomy. The Taiwan Visitors Association (TVA) insists that attracting international visitors through culinary delights is essential, as food serves as a universal language that connects people across cultures.
Participants of the expo can look forward to an exciting array of culinary delights, including iconic Taiwanese fare such as Gua Bao (pork belly buns) and Lu Rou Fan (braised pork rice). Numerous chefs and food artisans will engage in live cooking demonstrations and food tasting sessions, fostering a vibrant environment of culinary exchange and collaboration. TVA chairperson, Chien Yu-yen, emphasizes that the true allure of Taiwan lies within its diverse food culture, which extends far beyond its advanced technology industry. By creating memorable food experiences, the expo aims to spark a newfound appreciation for Taiwanese cuisine among global tourists, encouraging them to explore more of what Taiwan has to offer.
In efforts to surpass last year's attendance, the TVA is setting ambitious goals for this year's exhibition, targeting over 90,000 visitors. Comprehensive promotion strategies have been employed, focusing on international travel expos and partnerships with online travel platforms like Agoda. Although this year’s exhibition will not feature a dedicated area for Halal foods, the TVA assures visitors that information regarding halal-certified dining options will still be accessible. With an accessible admission price of NT$200 (approximately US$6.08), the expo stands as an inviting opportunity for food lovers from all corners of the world, creating pathways for culinary exploration and strong connections to Taiwan’s rich culinary legacy.
